Let’s be real: right now, the AI & Cybersecurity job search sucks. The rules are changing, and the old playbooks just aren’t cutting it. It’s time to shift your approach.<\/p>\n

Recruiters Aren’t Your Agents (That’s Our Job)<\/h3>\n

TL;DR \u2013 Recruiters work for companies, not you. Don\u2019t write them off completely, but spend no more than 5% of your energy<\/strong> on them. The rest should go toward a strategy that will help you never have to look for a job again<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Let’s be honest: recruiters are not your career coach. They\u2019re not your agent. They\u2019re not your friend. They work for companies, and they only really care about you if you can fill their open role.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a knock on recruiters, and you shouldn\u2019t ignore them completely, but you should understand what their job is and what it isn\u2019t. Their job is to fill open roles at companies<\/strong>. It ISN\u2019T to get you<\/em> a job or to get you more money (that\u2019s our job at eStreet Security).<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve been refreshing your inbox waiting for a recruiter to get back to you, here\u2019s your permission to stop. Instead, focus on this:<\/p>\n

\nThe \u201cNever Look for a Job in AI & Cybersecurity Again\u201d System<\/h3>\n

This is the exact strategy we use at eStreet Security, and it can work for anyone in AI, Cybersecurity, IT, and Tech who commits to it, especially if you’re targeting roles in the USA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Target 200+ companies in 30 days.<\/strong> These should be companies where you would genuinely like to work \u2013 ones that align with your background and where you want to go, but aren\u2019t just pure pipe dreams. Remember, there are no dream jobs, just better jobs. Be ambitious, but also be realistic. Most careers are ladders, not quantum leaps.<\/p>\n

Then, visit these companies\u2019 job boards weekly. Apply to appropriate roles. BUT, only apply to roles posted in the last 7 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Jem, 200+? Check every week? That is so much work!\u201d<\/p>\n

I knew you would say that. The truth is that applying to jobs outside of LinkedIn’s easy apply is a little labor-intensive, but not every company will have new roles each week. Most won\u2019t. Checking takes a few seconds.<\/p>\n

Checking each company and applying to the opportunities should take 12-15 hours a week<\/strong>. No more than 15.<\/p>\n

\"Finding
\nFinding a job in AI and Security is a full-time job!<\/h3>\n

And, I\u2019m sorry to say it, but if you aren\u2019t willing to spend 15 hours a week to get a new job, you don\u2019t really want one bad enough in this fast-evolving, AI-driven job landscape<\/strong>. That\u2019s ok, but that\u2019s what we talk about here.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Get \u201cboosters\u201d at as many of those companies as possible.<\/strong> Not just connections\u2014BOOSTERS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s a booster? Someone who replies to your messages within 24 hours and says something like, \u201cLet me look into that role for you.\u201d Basically, it is an advocate within the company. This makes it so you\u2019re not applying cold, you\u2019re being referred by someone on the inside.<\/p>\n
