Our client, a leading technology solutions provider, is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cloudera Platform Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Cloudera Platform Engineer, you will be an integral part of the SDP Solution Center team, directly supporting and driving innovative and impactful data initiatives. The ideal candidate for this pivotal role will possess strong analytical skills, be exceptionally self-motivated, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with minimal direction, ensuring successful alignment within the organization’s dynamic, fast-paced, and forward-thinking environment.

What’s the Job?

As a Cloudera Platform Engineer, you will be a pivotal force in designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining the core data platform within the Cloudera ecosystem. Your contributions will directly enable the organization’s innovative data strategy. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Full Project Ownership & Timely Delivery: Taking full end-to-end ownership of complex project-related tasks, from conceptualization through successful implementation, and meticulously ensuring their timely and successful completion, meeting all defined objectives and quality benchmarks.
• Collaborative Solution Design & Development: Collaborating closely and effectively with Solution Architects and various technology groups across the enterprise to design, develop, and meticulously maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance software solutions within the Cloudera ecosystem.
• High-Quality Data Solution Production: Producing consistently high-quality data solutions that are performant, resilient, secure, and reliable. You will adeptly solve complex technical problems related to large-scale data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval within the platform.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance: Performing thorough and constructive code reviews for team members, providing insightful feedback to ensure adherence to coding standards, optimize performance, and maintain overall code quality and maintainability.
• Client Engagement & Requirements Translation: Engaging directly and effectively with internal clients and stakeholders to deeply understand their evolving data requirements, translating complex business needs into precise technical specifications and delivering tailored data solutions that exceed expectations.
• Platform Optimization & Stability: Actively contributing to the continuous optimization, tuning, and stability of the Cloudera platform itself, ensuring its health, performance, and scalability. This includes monitoring resource utilization and identifying areas for improvement.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Providing expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex issues arising within the Cloudera environment, including data processing failures, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, platform configurations, operational procedures, and architectural designs to ensure clarity and support ongoing operations.

What’s Needed?

We’re looking for a highly skilled, experienced, and self-driven engineer with a strong and proven background in modern data platforms and big data technologies:

• Extensive Software & Data Engineering Experience: A minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in software development, with at least 2+ years specifically dedicated to Data Engineering roles in a large-scale environment.
• Cloudera CDP & Hadoop Administration: A strong and in-depth understanding of Cloudera CDP (Cloudera Data Platform) Hadoop Administration, including deep familiarity with its core components and operational best practices. This is coupled with solid knowledge of Unix operating systems and underlying infrastructure components essential for big data environments.
• Big Data Processing Proficiency: Proven, hands-on proficiency in core big data processing technologies, specifically Apache Spark, strong Python programming skills for data manipulation and scripting, and extensive experience with PySpark for scalable data transformations.
• Hadoop Ecosystem Components Expertise: Practical experience and a solid understanding of key Hadoop ecosystem components, particularly Hive (for data warehousing, querying, and schema management) and Impala (for high-performance, interactive queries on large datasets).
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with technical teams, clear documentation, and articulate interaction with business stakeholders and clients.
