Location & Shift:
- Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
- Shift: Rotational 2nd Shift | 10:30 AM – 7:30 PM CST (including weekends)
- Type: Contract
Interview Process:
- This will involve 2 rounds: 1 virtual, followed by 1 onsite interview in Plano, TX.
About the Role:
This is a mid-to-senior level Linux Systems/Infrastructure Engineer role with a heavy focus on support, maintenance, and automation for large-scale banking infrastructure. While it’s not a pure DevOps position, you’ll be extensively scripting, automating, monitoring, and collaborating with global teams to ensure our client’s critical platforms are up and running smoothly 24/7.
Responsibilities:
As a Linux System Engineer, your key contributions will include:
- System Maintenance & Support: Providing comprehensive support and diligent maintenance for Linux-based enterprise systems, ensuring their stability and performance.
- Production Issue Resolution: Proactively troubleshooting and swiftly resolving production infrastructure issues to minimize downtime and business impact.
- Automation Development: Automating routine and complex tasks using scripting languages like Python, Shell, or configuration management tools like Ansible, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
- System Health Monitoring: Monitoring system health and performance using advanced tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace, identifying anomalies and potential issues.
- Middleware Component Support: Addressing and supporting various middleware components essential for application functionality within the enterprise environment.
- Incident & Problem Management: Actively participating in incident/problem management processes, conducting thorough root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Global Team Collaboration: Collaborating effectively with global teams across different time zones, ensuring seamless operations and knowledge transfer.
- Disaster Recovery & Capacity Analysis: Assisting in disaster recovery planning and conducting crucial capacity analysis to prepare for future growth and potential outages.
Key Skills We’re Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Extensive Linux Experience: 7+ years of hands-on Linux engineering experience, demonstrating deep familiarity with various distributions and their configurations.
- Linux OS Internals: A strong understanding of Linux OS internals and advanced troubleshooting methodologies for complex system issues.
- Enterprise Middleware: Proven middleware experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Scripting Proficiency: Solid scripting knowledge in Python, Shell, or Perl for automation and system management.
- Automation Tools: Practical experience with Ansible or similar automation/configuration management tools.
- Monitoring Tools (Bonus): Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace is a significant plus.
- Large-Scale Environment Comfort: Comfort and proven ability to work effectively in large-scale enterprise environments, handling complex infrastructure and high demands.
Additional Notes:
- Candidates must be open to rotational shifts, which will include weekends.
- The final interview round will be conducted onsite in Plano, TX.
- We are open to considering candidates with various work authorization statuses.
- Applicants must be comfortable with a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days onsite per week.
