Our client is actively seeking a highly curious and enthusiastic Part-Time AI Trainer to champion their growing AI enablement initiatives. This contract / temp-to-hire opportunity is primarily virtual, offering exceptional flexibility, with occasional (no more than quarterly) onsite sessions in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the company’s expense. What’s the Job? Empowering Employees with Generative AI

As a Part-Time AI Trainer, your primary focus will be on facilitating engaging learning experiences that demystify AI tools and demonstrate their real-world value. Your responsibilities will combine direct instruction with content creation and collaborative support.

  • Lead Informal Training Sessions: You will expertly lead informal training sessions for diverse groups, ranging from intimate 1-on-1 coaching to larger sessions with up to 30 participants. These sessions will be conducted both in-person (during occasional onsite engagements in Charlottesville, VA) and virtually, requiring adaptability in your delivery style and comfort with various presentation technologies. Your goal is to create a comfortable and encouraging environment where employees feel empowered to explore AI.
  • Present and Demonstrate Real-Time Use of AI Tools: You’ll confidently present and demonstrate the real-time use of cutting-edge AI platforms. This includes deep dives into tools like Microsoft 365 Copilot, OpenAI ChatGPT, and other emerging generative AI platforms. You’ll showcase practical applications, best practices, and innovative use cases, illustrating how these tools can be integrated into daily workflows to enhance productivity and problem-solving.
  • Facilitate Open Forum Discussions and Hands-On Q&A: A key aspect of your training approach will be to facilitate open forum discussions and hands-on Q&A sessions. You’ll encourage participants to ask questions, share their experiences, and explore AI tools interactively. This involves actively listening, providing clear and concise answers, and guiding practical experimentation to ensure a deeper understanding and higher comfort level with AI technologies.
  • Maintain and Update Basic Course Content and Learning Modules: You will be responsible for maintaining and updating basic course content and learning modules related to AI tools and their applications. This includes ensuring that training materials are current, accurate, and reflect the latest features and best practices for platforms like Microsoft 365 Copilot and ChatGPT. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure the quality and relevance of educational resources.
  • Collaborate with Internal Teams to Support AI Adoption: You will foster strong relationships and collaborate with various internal teams across different departments. This partnership is essential for understanding their specific AI enablement needs, identifying relevant use cases, and providing tailored support to accelerate AI adoption throughout the organization. Your collaborative efforts will ensure AI solutions are integrated effectively and derive maximum value.
  • Create Simple, Engaging Educational Content: You’ll unleash your creativity to create simple, yet highly engaging educational content that highlights new AI features or provides quick tips for effective AI use. This includes developing concise 30-second video reels or microlearning clips designed for easy consumption and quick knowledge transfer. Your ability to distill complex information into digestible formats will enhance learning across the company.
  • Potential for Expanded Instructional Design or Content Development: Depending on your interest and skillset, this role offers potential to expand into more involved instructional design or content development. What’s Needed? Your Expertise in AI Enablement and Training

To excel as a Part-Time AI Trainer, you’ll need a unique blend of technical curiosity, hands-on experience with AI tools, and exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong Curiosity and Enthusiasm for AI: You must possess a strong curiosity and genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and platforms. This innate drive to explore, understand, and embrace emerging AI technologies is fundamental to effectively sharing knowledge and inspiring others.
  • Demonstrated Experience with Microsoft 365 & OpenAI ChatGPT: You are required to have demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 (with particular emphasis on Copilot, Teams, and related Microsoft 365 applications) and OpenAI ChatGPT. This hands-on proficiency is crucial for confidently demonstrating these tools and guiding users through their functionalities and applications in real-time.
  • Solid Understanding of Basic Scripting and Automation: You should have a solid understanding of basic scripting and automation within M365/O365. This includes familiarity with tools like PowerShell or Power Automate, enabling you to demonstrate simple automation workflows or provide guidance on streamlining tasks using AI-powered features.
  • Excellent Presentation and Interpersonal Skills: You must possess excellent presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences (from 1 to 30 people) in both in-person and virtual settings. This is complemented by strong interpersonal skills that foster open communication, build rapport, and create a supportive learning environment during discussions and Q&A sessions.
  • Comfort Leading Informal Training and Open-Ended Discussions: You must be highly comfortable leading informal training sessions and adept at managing open-ended discussions. This requires flexibility, quick thinking to address spontaneous questions, and the ability to guide conversations effectively to ensure all participants benefit from the learning experience.
  • Self-Starter with Quick Learning Ability: You are a self-starter with the ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies independently. Crucially, you must also be able to explain them clearly to others, simplifying complex concepts for non-technical audiences and translating technical jargon into practical, understandable terms.

Preferred Skills: Enhancing Your Training and Content Creation Abilities

  • Prior Experience in Related Fields: Prior work in learning & development, IT training, or AI adoption support demonstrates a background directly relevant to this role.
  • Content Creation or Video Editing Skills: Direct content creation or video editing skills for microlearning (e.g., creating short video demos or AI tips) would be a strong asset, enabling you to produce engaging educational materials directly.

Travel & Location Expectations: Flexible Approach

  • While primarily a virtual position, there may be occasional on-site engagements, generally no more than quarterly. These sessions would typically take place in Charlottesville, VA, and are covered at the company’s cost.
  • Travel is not strictly required but may be beneficial for in-person retreats or division-led sessions (primarily on the East Coast).
  • Being on-site is preferred but not mandatory; this is not a deal-breaker for the right candidate who demonstrates exceptional skills and a commitment to the role from a remote setting.
