Essential Functions:

As the Sr. Application Administrator, you will serve as a primary steward for assigned applications, ensuring their seamless operation and strategic alignment. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Application Ownership & Administration: Acting as the primary owner and lead administrator for assigned critical applications, taking full accountability for their lifecycle and performance.
  • Expert-Level Support & Troubleshooting: Providing expert-level application and system support to all employees for your assigned applications. This involves adeptly troubleshooting complex issues, swiftly resolving them, or identifying and owning the escalation path to the Systems team or external vendors until resolution is achieved.
  • Application Architecture & Integration: Architecting applications to robustly meet evolving business needs. This includes establishing seamless and secure integrations with other critical enterprise applications to ensure end-to-end functionality.
  • Best Practices & Security Enforcement: Establishing and enforcing best practices for administering and securing applications, ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational security policies.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Conducting continuous application performance monitoring, thorough evaluation, and strategic optimization to ensure applications run efficiently and effectively.

  • Solution Implementation: Designing and implementing technical solutions that directly meet or significantly improve specific customer or business needs.

  • Root Cause Analysis & Vendor Collaboration: Analyzing application incidents to accurately identify their root cause. You will work closely with the vendor’s product support team to implement sustainable solutions and fixes.
  • Process Improvement Leadership: Analyzing existing operational processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. You will then lead or direct the implementation of such process enhancements to optimize workflows.
  • Metrics, KPIs & SLAs: Collaborating with stakeholders to establish clear, measurable, and sustainable key metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for application performance and support.
  • Upgrade & Patch Management: Ensuring the successful installation and rigorous validation of vendor-provided application upgrades and patches, maintaining system currency and security.
  • License Management & Budgeting: Monitoring license usage for assigned applications and actively contributing to budgeting for licensing costs. This involves providing metrics on anticipated needs during the budget cycle and submitting procurement requests for additional licenses when required.
  • Change Request Processing: Efficiently processing change requests for modifications to application configurations, adhering to established change management procedures.
  • Application Roadmap & Prioritization: Maintaining the application roadmap and collaborating with leadership to set strategic priorities for future development and enhancements.
  • Status Reporting: Providing timely and accurate status reporting on application health, ongoing projects, and critical issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Managing projects focused on building new functionality, workflows, processes, and/or reporting capabilities within the application. This includes full lifecycle involvement from requirements gathering, configuration, testing, user documentation, and training.
  • User Documentation & Training: Developing and maintaining all user documentation related to assigned applications, including comprehensive policies and procedures. You will also drive user adoption across the organization through effective user training programs and promotion of best practices.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Maintaining a strong relationship with application vendors to facilitate the resolution of application issues and ensure that needs for new functionality are considered in future product releases.
  • Data Integrity & Confidentiality: Supporting the company’s unwavering commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data through secure application administration practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Application Administration Experience: 4+ years of demonstrated professional experience as an application administrator in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Data Domain Application Experience: Proven experience with applications in the data domain such as Tableau, Business Objects, or Infoburst.
  • Database Familiarity: Familiarity with database applications such as MSSQL and Hadoop.
  • Cloud Deployment Experience: Experience in deploying applications to hosted cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling proficient interaction with all levels of management and staff.
  • Productivity Tools Knowledge: General knowledge or familiarity with office productivity tools such as Windows OS, MS Office, and Visio.
  • ITSM/Collaboration Tools: General knowledge or familiarity with applications such as or similar to JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, and Workday.
